Wings for Life Run 2021

The Wings for Life Run is a yearly tradition that spans the whole world – all participants run on the same day and at the same time, in order to support spinal injury research. Think of it as a marathon, where you can run as long as you wish. There is no finish line. Instead, 30 minutes after the start a Catcher Car begins its pursuit, passing the runners and wheelchair users one after the other. That’s when you run is done! And the best part of it all: 100% of all entry fees and donations goes directly to spinal cord research and will help to cure spinal cord injury!

2021 is the second year that DevelopmentAid employees have had the opportunity to take part in the Run. This year, 8 of our colleagues met up at the Valea Morilor park starting point and had fun running for those who can’t! Despite the pandemic and current health context, the run was well-organised and safe, so that each participant could feel protected and ready for the race.

Wings for Life’s partners Redbull came forward with a motivating initiative. They prepared a goodie set for both the best female and male runners from DevelopmentAid! Egor Boaghi took the prize for his 23.06 km run, while Elena Rata took the prize for her 11.69 km achievement. Congratulations to all of our participants, as they have made us proud for their impressive runs! They have contributed to important research, and we hope they will repeat their performances next year as well 🙂
