Let’s Talk GAMIFICATION: How role-playing games can develop real-life skills

Why pretend to be an imaginary character? Kids don’t need reasons to do it, but as adults we tend to forget how fun this can be, or we just think we can’t afford spending time on such things. Role-playing games are played by millions of adults around the world, and not the stereotypical nerds in their basements anymore; you’d be surprised to know how many celebrities enjoy killing dragons in imaginary dungeons in their spare time…

In our next Meetup, on August 15th, we invite you to discover role-playing games and how with this powerful and engaging learning tool we can develop real-life skills that are usually taught in expensive workshops and training, but having fun and for free!

Key Content

  • Introduction to role-playing games
  • Problem-solving
  • People skills and public speaking
  • Applying the skills at work: teamwork, leadership, sales and many other!
  • The importance of immersion – a real-life story of healing through games.

Last but not least, stay after the talk and you will surely find your next adventuring companions to delve into dungeons with! Starting from the speakers:

Agustin “Gus” Del Boca

Gus is an Argentinian citizen working in Moldova as a manager in an IT company, and his job requires him to spend most of his time talking with other people, planning, and solving unexpected problems. Basically, what he’s been doing for 25 years playing pen & paper role-playing games! He also holds an international certification in Gamification Methodologies.

Rafael Romo Mulas

Italo-Mexican geology graduate, Rafael works here at DevelopmentAid as a BDM, but has also (not so) secretly playing RPGs for the past 25 years, the last 5 or so recruiting players around the world while working as a flight attendant.

Leonardo Cappello

Italian bionics and soft robotics expert, Leonardo has been a postdoctoral researcher at Harvard, and other than creating sci-fi human augmentations, during his PhD in Singapore he studied how immersive games can help patients learn how to use their new bionic parts faster. In Singapore he met Rafael and joined his crazy Dungeons & Dragons campaign, but he had been playing for more than two decades already.

We accommodate based on the “first registered, first seated” principle. Make sure to register below. An email confirming your participation will be sent a few days before the event.
